Firefighters tackled a massive blaze in a metal scrapyard in south Essex.
Essex County Fire and Rescue raced to extinguish a fierce scrap fire in the Port of Tilbury last night around 6.42pm, with six crew working to put the fire out using an aerial ladder platform.
The fire was put out by 9pm, and affected approximately 100 metres x 30 metres of scrap metal.
An Essex Fire spokesman said: "Firefighters were called to a fire at a scrap metal yard in the Port of Tilbury at 6:42pm.
"Six crews worked to use an Aerial Ladder Platform to extinguish a fire affecting approximately 100 metres x 30 metres of scrap metal.
"Firefighters worked alongside site staff to break up the material using diggers to extinguish the fire in sections.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire by 9pm.
"An investigation will be carried out tomorrow to determine the cause of the fire."
