A TEENAGE boy was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in a busy south Essex road.

The A132 Nevendon Road was shut yesterday evening, near Nevendon, after a crash between a car and a pedestrian before 6.30pm.

Police closed off the road for around an hour after the incident which was initially described as a "serious crash".

The pedestrian, a teenage boy, was taken to hospital with injuries which are not life-threatening or life-changing, Essex Police has confirmed.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “We were called to a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Nevendon Road, Nevendon, shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday 12 September.

“We attended alongside colleagues with East of England Ambulance Service.

“The pedestrian, a teenage boy, was taken on to hospital with injuries which are not life-threatening or life-changing.”

The Echo understands the driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

The A132 is a key road in south Essex connecting Pitsea and South Woodham Ferrers.
