A NUMBER of drink and drug drivers in south Essex have been sentenced at magistrates' courts in recent weeks.

A VAN driver caught behind the wheel while drunk has been hit with a driving ban.

Lewis Langridge, of St Lukes Road, Southend was driving a Ford Transit van in Hallowell Down, South Woodham Ferrers, when he was found with 90 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on January 3, 2022. The limit is 35.

The 33-year-old was found guilty at Southend Magistrates’ Court on August 23, when he was fined £553 and banned from the roads for six months.

Langridge must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £221 and prosecution costs of £650.

A DRUG-DRIVER caught in Basildon while 16 times the limit has been banned from driving for more than a year.

Chloe Taylor, of Montague Street, Basildon, was driving a Ford S-Max 140 in Pitsea Road when she was found with 800 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine – the major metabolite of cocaine – per litre of blood in her system on February 21. The limit is 50.

She admitted the offence on Thursday, August 29, and was banned from driving for a year and two months at Basildon Magistrates’ Court. She was also told to pay a £120 fine and £85 costs.

A WOMAN caught drink-driving in a major Basildon road has been banned from the roads.

Lesley Keeble, of St Peters Pavement, Basildon, was driving a Ford Fiesta in Southernhay when she was found with 123 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood on March 31. The limit is 80.

The 62-year-old admitted the offence at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 30, and was banned from driving for a year.

She was also fined £369, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £148.

A DRINK driver caught near Southend Hospital has been banned from the roads.

Frankie Tandy, 25, was driving a grey BMW in Prittlewell Chase when he was found with 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on August 9. The limit is 35. He was also found to be in possession of cocaine.

Tandy, of High Street, Great Wakering, admitted the offence at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 29, and was banned from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay £785. 

A DRINK driver caught behind the wheel on a major Southend road has been banned.

Chad Holland, 23, was driving a Volkswagen Scirocco in London Road when he was found with 78 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on June 24 last year.

Holland, of Sutton Court Drive, Rochford, admitted the offence earlier this year and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 30, where he was banned from driving for a year.

He was also ordered to pay a £200 fine, £85 prosecution costs and an £80 surcharge to fund victim services.

A DRUG driver caught behind the wheel has been banned from the roads for a year.

Beau Simpson, of Iverness Avenue, Westcliff, was driving a Ford Transit van in Charlton Park Lane in Greenwich, London, when he was found with 5.6 micrograms of THC - the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis - in his system. The limit is 2.

The 26-year-old admitted the offence at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 29 and was banned, fined £600 and also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £240 surcharge to fund victims.

A DRINK driver caught on the roads has been banned from driving for almost four years.

Vincent Sherwin was driving on Southend Road in Wickford when he was found with 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on August 11. The limit is 35.

The 62-year-old was also driving without insurance or a valid test certificate.

Sherwin, of Guernsey Gardens, Wickford, admitted all three offences at Basildon Magistrates’ Court and was banned from driving for three years and eight months, fined £700 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £280 surcharge.

A DRINK driver who failed to stop at the scene of a crash has been banned from driving for two years.

Adeola Sogunwa, of Rodings Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope, was driving a Honda on the A13 in Grays when she failed to stop after a crash and was driving while unfit through drink on February 3.

The 50-year-old admitted the offences at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 29, where she was handed the driving ban.

She was also ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work as well as pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 surcharge.
