A HUGE plot of land has been listed on the market for a whopping £4million before it is transformed into a retirement complex including more than 100 homes and a 93-bed care home.
Plans were approved at the end of last year for the site, off Cherry Orchard Lane, near the Southend Airport Business Park, to be developed into a retirement development.
In total, more than 100 retirement homes will be built alongside a state of the art 93-bed care home and a new GP service.
Workers have already been spotted on the site and Rochford councillor, Mike Steptoe is confident the development will be hugely beneficial to the community.
Estate agent Ayres and Cruiks is expecting work to start as soon as a sale is completed after revealing the plot is already attracting interest with a guide price of £4million.
Mr Steptoe said: “It is quite a substantial complex, I get the impression they are getting ready to start.
“There is a facility there that we do not have in the area, this is something slightly different, this is almost a small village.
“There will be a bus from Cherry Orchard Park that will link to places like Hockley.
“I think it is an interesting development, I think it will be very important. Rochford is a growing area, I think we are going to see a lot more development here.”
Plans will see a retirement village consisting of 32 over-55s apartments, 22 over-55s houses, nine over-55s bungalows, 30 over-55s assisted living apartments, 34 over-55s sheltered apartments, and a 93-bed care home.
It will also include a GP service, a community hall, convenience store, and office space including site management.
Agents Ayres and Cruiks confirmed the care home, which will comprise 1.3 acres of land, has had several viewings but offers have yet to be made.
All blocks on site will benefit from communal lounges.
