HUGE flames and a plume of black smoke have been spotted after a fire broke out.
Images posted on social media show a large fire, understood to be at an amusement park on the seafront.
Residents have reported seeing a huge thick plume of smoke from across the island.
It is understood that firefighters are on the scene attempting to bring the flames under control.
Essex Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
