A Leigh tattoo shop has raised £2600 by tattooing 83 people in 12 hours to raise money to stop animal testing on dogs.
Original Inkhouse Tattoo Studio, on London Road, Leigh, worked non-stop on Sunday September 9 to tattoo customers with the outlined head and ears of their dog, with 83 people receiving the £25 flash tattoos.
The money raised goes towards funding Camp Beagle, a famous ongoing protest outside of the MBR Acres puppy factory in Wyton, Cambridgeshire, with organiser Emma Stennett hopeful the community of dog lovers in Leigh have helped to make a difference.
Emma, 22, said: “When I posted about the event, we were fully booked in 24 hours which was insane, we were meant to work until 4pm and we extended it to 9pm.
“The atmosphere in the shop was so lively, we told people to bring their dogs, it was full of people, and everyone was so nice, it was a great day.
“I thought it would be manic and people were donating who couldn’t get tattooed, people were talking about their dogs from the past and present, it was really nice.”
Emma added that she had just returned from dropping off the money raised to the Camp Beagle protest group.
She added: “It was horrible to see, I found the group on Tiktok and as soon as I watched the videos it broke my heart, I asked the owners if we could do something.
“All the guys were onboard as animal lovers, it turned into a day of sharing stories, dogs are the way to people’s hearts.”
Many of the designs on offer were personal and based off a picture sent to the tattoo shop of the owners dog, with Emma wanting a more personal way of doing a fundraiser than offering a sheet of pre-made designs.
Emma said: “There was a sad story with a woman who had a rescue dog from Cyprus with a disease and it has one month left to live, she had an outline of her dogs ears tattooed on her.
“It made this more personal for ourselves.”
