Several restaurants, cafes, and pubs in south Essex have received top food hygiene ratings this week, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from five to zero, with five being hygiene standards are very good, and zero being urgent improvement is required.

Here are the establishments in south Essex that have been awarded a new hygiene rating:

Southend:

The Wellspring Restaurant at Splice Of Life, Southend University Hospital, Prittlewell Chase, Westcliff, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on September 6.

Mila's at 83 Broadway, Leigh was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on September 5.

LifeStreams Coffee House at St Peters Church, Eastbourne Grove, Westcliff was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on September 3.

Legra Tap and Kitchen at The Harry Public House, 1517 London Road, Leigh was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on September 4.

Fish 2 Go at 6a Manners Corner, Manners Way, Southend, was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on August 14.

Basildon: 

Subway at 44c Eastgate Centre, Basildon, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on August 23.

South Grill at 3 Andree House, Grange Road, Billericay, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on August 17.

Abi's 2 Takeaway at The Arcade, 2a The Broadway, Wickford, was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on August 12.

The Indian Spice at Bridge Parade, 2 Perry Street, Billericay, was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on August 12.

Subway at 8 Broadway North, High Road, Pitsea, was handed a three-out-of-five rating after assessment on August 12.
