THE combination of authentic Indian food, top class service and friendly staff has seen Namaste Village “rise to the top” in just ten months.

The restaurant, owned by Ronish Subariya, has only been open since last November but he is confident it will be a fixture on the seafront for years to come.

Occupying a prime spot, where the Minerva Pub once stood close to the Kursaal, Namaste is packed out with customers on a daily basis and Ronish is confident the “authentic Indian taste” is key.

He said: “For the service and the food, people love us. We have been nominated for lots of different awards, best restaurant in Essex, best Indian restaurant.

“We never disappoint our customers. If they have any problems, issues with the food, we never disappoint them. That’s why they always come back.

“We’re getting great responses from those who travel to the seafront, we also got a great response from tourists.

“We have had really good reviews and in just a ten month period, among lots of restaurants who have been here for the last five to ten years, we are now top among them.”

He added his restaurant benefits from being easily found on Google or TripAdvisor, where his business has received rave reviews.

The restaurant prides itself on serving authentic Indian vegetarian and vegan cuisine “showing meat eaters that flavour has nothing to do with being a carnivore”.

First-time customers and husband and wife, Kashyap and Trupti Pandya, said they adored the restaurant’s cuisine and looked forward to returning in the near future.(Image: Michael Robinson)

Trupti said: “I really wanted to try the vegan prawns and they were the best.

“This is my first time here and I want to come again and again, especially for the vegan prawns.

Kashyap said: “The vegan chicken tastes better than real chicken. I am very fond of the beer, it’s a proper Indian beer.

“You cannot find it anywhere else. We will be back soon, maybe next week.”

The business also has locations in Norwich, Cambridge and Twickenham – and Mr Sutariya said they plan to expand even more in future.

The restaurant also donates 30 free meals every Tuesday, to residents living at Southend supported housing project Stephens Place.
