POLICE have closed off a road after a car smashed into a house in Colchester.
A grey Mercedes careered into the property in Winnock Road, New Town, between Friday night and Saturday morning, with emergency services still on the scene.
It is not known whether any car passengers or residents were injured; the police and ambulance services have been contacted for comment.
The airbags in the car had been deployed and the vehicle's hazard lights were still on when a reporter attended the scene this morning.
A brick wall in front of the house had been destroyed and the front of a semi-detached house was badly damaged.
A police cordon has been set up to prevent traffic from travelling past the scene from the Military Road end of the road.
