Two schools in South Essex have been forced to temporarily close due to a burst water main disrupting their water supply.

Shoebury High School, on Caulfield Road, and Richmond Avenue Primary School, on Richmond Avenue, have both contacted parents to regarding the loss of water.

Without running water, neither school can open or operate safely, leading to the decision to start the school day later.

Reports suggest that water supply in the Shoebury area is currently being restored.

Shoebury High School has confirmed on its website that it will now open this morning at 11am.

However, parents at both schools are urged to stay updated through school communication channels for any changes to the situation.

Essex and Suffolk Water have been contacted for comment by the Echo.
