SOUTHEND singer Jasmine Somer and her band Sweet Love are on the path to being the UK’s next big girl group after spending the summer on tour with JLS.

The 21-year-old has found viral fame in recent years and appeared across the UK over the last three months as she joined the X-Factor runner ups as their support act.

Although she has pursued showbusiness since childhood, Jasmine’s career hit new heights at the age of 19 when she was contacted by her now-manager.

She was offered the chance to join Sweet Love and hasn’t looked back since.

Jasmine said the chance to tour with JLS was “so incredible, and the most amazing experience ever”, describing it as a dream come true after two years of hard work alongside her bandmates.

She said: “My manager first reached out to me when I was 13 after he saw a singing video I’d posted to Facebook and said he’d like to keep in touch. When I was 19, he reached out again and said he was putting a girl group together.

Two years on, the success of Sweet Love has been more than anyone could imagine. The group has built up a huge social media following that includes 1.1m followers on TikTok and 251k on Instagram.

Their simple but effective videos combine genuine talent with the latest social media trends and have earned Sweet Love millions of likes.

Jasmine said: “Social media is a massive thing now and lets us reach so many different people.

"In the last year it’s just grown so much. We knew from the start that we wanted to focus on growing our socials and it just blew up after the S Club tour.”

It’s not just social media that has driven Sweet Love’s rapid success, a support tour with S Club last year proved to be a winning move. The group saw follower numbers skyrocket after performing at London’s O2 Arena.

“This is my full-time job now and it’s so amazing that I’m doing the thing I’ve wanted to do for literally my whole life,” she said.
