POLICE are investigating a road collision in Southend which left a pedestrian injured at a busy junction.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the incident at the junction between York Road and Queensway shortly after midday on Saturday.

The road was closed for two hours and a man was taken to Southend University Hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, police have said.

The Echo has contacted Essex Police for further details on the incident and the status of the force’s investigations.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and car in Southend at just after midday today on Saturday, September 28.

“The collision is reported to have occurred in York Road at the junction with Queensway.

“Emergency services were at the scene and the road was closed for a couple of hours.

“The pedestrian, a man, was taken to hospital for treatment.”

No arrests have been made.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed three response units were sent to attend the collision.

He said: “An ambulance, a rapid response car and the air ambulance were sent to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car at the junction of York Road and Queensway, Southend.

“One patient, a male in his 30s, was transported by road to Southend University Hospital for assessment and care.”

An Essex Police spokesman has also appealed for information and footage so officers can continue their investigation.
