Firefighters tackled a large haystack fire near Southend, as crews stayed all night to control the flames.
Four crews from Rochford, Southend and Rayleigh Weir were called to the fire in Lambourne Hall Road, Rochford, last night, when a haystack caught fire.
The firefighters were called to the incident at around 8.14pm.
Station Manager Rick Williams said: "Crews are currently working to protect the surrounding area, it is approximately 180 tonnes of hay bales alight.
"Due to the windy conditions the fire is burning through the haystack quite quickly. We are looking to scale this incident down soon but crews will likely remain here overnight to make sure the haystack burns out safely."
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service revealed this morning, that one crew remained at the fire all night and continued to let the haystack burn under control.
