A "loud bang" and "explosion" sounds have been heard near Southend after MOD Shoebury issued a warning.
QinetiQ, which operates the range at Shoebury on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD), alerted residents that noise generated "may exceed the usual self-imposed limit".
The warning is in place up until 11 October.
This afternoon, residents reported hearing an "explosion" sound causing "their home to shake".
The QinetiQ website states that there were "explosions" scheduled for today and tomorrow.
Explosions or other loud noises may be heard until 11 October.
The MOD says this does not represent an increase in range activity, but "it may possibly be noticed by residents".
If you have any concerns about range activity, you can contact "the Careline team on qqshbenquiries@qinetiq.com or 0800 0560108".
