Southend is gearing up for a weekend packed with family-friendly events.

There is something for everyone to enjoy across the city, making it a perfect weekend for all ages.

Here we have listed five events happening in Southend next weekend.

1. Firework Spectaculars:

The skies of Southend seafront will dazzle on October 12, as part of eight weeks of spectacular fireworks.

Every Saturday, up until 16 November, residents and visitors will be treated to a thrilling display of huge fireworks.

The fireworks are set off from a barge out in the Estuary, east of Southend Pier, meaning you can get a fantastic, uninterrupted view of the displays anywhere from Sealife Adventure to Genting Casino.

The final fireworks event, on 16 November, will coincide with the 2024 Christmas switch-on event in Southend.

2. Sci-Fi Fantasy Fun Day:

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the Sci-Fi Fantasy Fun Day will take over The Royals Shopping Centre in Southend.

This free family event runs from 10 am, offering a mix of entertainment, including face painting, a tombola, character appearances, and a kids' fancy-dress competition.

Special guests from iconic films like Star Wars and James Bond will also be signing autographs.

Proceeds will go to the Southend charity, Gold Geese, who support children with cancer.

3. Pink Pier Walk:

On October 12, 2024, between 4:30pm to 6pm, Southend will glow pink.

This is for the Pink Pier Walk organised by Active Life and the Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust.

Participants will walk to the end of Southend Pier, where they will switch on the seafront lights in a vibrant display of solidarity.

The charity event aims to raise awareness of breast cancer.

There is a participation fee of £5, including pier entrance. Participants are reminder to wear pink attire and join the fun.

4. Vulcan Hangar Dance:

A popular 1940s and 1950s dance event is to return to Southend Airport on October 12 for the Vulcan Hangar Dance event.

The Vulcan Restoration Trust has confirmed that its ‘40s and '50s Vulcan Hangar Dance will take place on Saturday, October 12.

The event, which takes place in the Vulcan Hangar at Southend Airport, will feature music from the Sid Bolan Big Band, who will play dance hits from the wartime and post-war years.
