A violent attack has left a man with stab wounds after he was chased by a gang of four men in Eastwood today. 

Essex Police have launched an urgent appeal for information after the incident at roughly 4.30pm today in Rayleigh Road, Eastwood. 

It was reported the victim was chased by a group of four men who had got out of two vehicles, one of which is described as a red 4x4. 

The victim, a man his his 20s, was found with stab wounds by emergency services. 

He has been taken to hospital for treatment but fortunately his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Essex Police are investigating and you may see an increased visible presence in the area.

At this stage the force believe this was a targeted attack and does not pose a risk to the wider public.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called at 4.30pm to reports a man in his 20s had been found with stab wounds in Rayleigh Road.

"He has been taken to hospital for treatment but fortunately his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"It was reported the victim had been seen to be chased by a group of four men who had got out of two vehicles, one of which is described as a red 4x4.
