POLICE are investigating after a boy was hit by a car at a busy road's crossing in Basildon.

It was reported a boy on his bike was crossing the road at the Broadmayne crossing, near Ashlyns, when he was hit by a car this morning at around 8.30am.

Paramedics attended but it is not believed the boy was taken to hospital and, thankfully, emergency services say he did not sustain serious injuries. 

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are investigating a collision that occurred in Basildon at around 8.30am on Monday, October 7.

"It was reported that a car was in collision with a child on a bike who was crossing the road at the Broadmayne crossing.

"Ambulance also attended, but thankfully the boy didn’t sustain serious injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information that could help us, is asked to call 101 and quote incident 239 of 7 October."
