“Horrible” fly-tippers have been slammed for dumping bin bags, construction waste and trolleys on the corner of a busy residential street.

Basildon Tory councillor Kevin Blake has slammed “horrible and scummy” fly-tippers after the rubbish was dumped in Mill Green, Pitsea, near the Chalvedon Shops.

After an initial pile of rubbish was dumped, the fly-tip has increased in size in recent days and is now spilling into the street.

To tackle the issue, Mr Blake has said that “targeted mobile CCTV” vehicles are needed to deter fly-tipping and catch the minority of people responsible for repeated fly-tipping incidents.

The other week, the council just did the crunch and now someone has dumped a load of rubbish.

“No matter what you put in, scum will do it and I reported it and it got worse.

“This spot has been like that for years. It is notorious and it is just as bad as it has ever been. Politics must be taken out of it. These people are scummy and they do not care.”

The fly-tipping has been reported to Basildon Council and is now set to be removed.

Mr Blake added: “We do need these mobile CCTV vans. This is where we need targeted CCTV.

“This man has got away with it and others realise that they can get away with it. That really annoyed me the other day and I took another photo, showing it even worse since having been reported.

“People need to see action. We fined more people for dumping under us and we targeted it. It must be stepped up and it also needs people looking to report people.”

Mr Blake also warned that people paying disreputable clearance companies, who go on to dump waste, risk being found culpable themselves, not the people dumping the rubbish.

He added: “People pay for the cheap labour to get rid of what they must. What we must highlight it is if rubbish is found, they will be culpable.”
