A 20-year-old woman who tragically died after being hit by a train will have her artwork exhibited posthumously at a major London gallery, it has been revealed.

Fox Leban, 20, died on Friday October 4 while on “unescorted leave” from a mental health ward after the incident close to Pitsea Train Station.

Following her death, Fox’s work will be exhibited in an upcoming exhibition at London’s iconic Southbank Centre called “No Comment”.

The exhibition is being run by Koestler Arts, which encourages young people from the criminal justice system to change their lives through art.

Two of Fox’s works make up 200 pieces at the free exhibition which begins on Friday November 1 and runs to Sunday December 15 – named “Desperation” and “Lady Behind Bars”.

Mum, Emma Leban, previously described Fox’s love of art while paying tribute to her and was delighted to be told that Fox’s work would be going on display.

She said: “Me and my daughter always said we would do big things, and I feel that she is pressuring me to uphold my end of the bargain.

“Out of 7500 people, two art works were selected for an exhibition by Koestler Arts, who work with the Ministry for Justice of Justice.

“There are just 200 and two of Fox’s works, one is called Desperation and the other is Lady Behind Bars, I haven’t seen either myself and I believe they were put online.

“It is so bittersweet.”

Following Fox’s death, Emma slammed the Essex Partnership University Trust - which runs mental health services across Essex - and claimed she warned them that her daughter was not in the right condition to be allowed on day release.

An investigation is now set to take place.

Emma added: “I am thankful to the people who have reached out and will set up and email address for friends to get in contact with myself.

“I want to make sure that everything we are doing is for the people in those wards, I can’t protect my daughter but hopefully we can protect everyone else, I believe it is likely something similar is happening to someone else right now.”

Paul Scott, CEO of Essex partnership university NHS foundation trust, said: “My sincere condolences are with everybody impacted by this tragedy - it’s important that we look into the circumstances and carry out a full investigation.

“We are also in contact with the family to offer support.”
