Echo reporter George Pizani visited The Navigator pub to taste out what’s on offer and see what its like to work in Southend Airport’s popular boozer.
Walking up to The Navigator I was hit with my favourite smells – a good pint and fresh food. Looking at the menu I saw dozens of options and settled on buttermilk chicken strips with a lime, chilli and honey dipping sauce.
I was served by friendly and chatty staff, who offered me the choice of table or booth seating and went out of their way to make my experience as easy as possible.
Having only expected my ordered choice of chicken strips, I was delighted to receive a small platter of the pub’s best-selling items.
I test the main attraction first; a miniature version of the pub’s beloved Southender burger. Made from local beef and stacked with cheese and bacon, it was a treat.
Next were the chicken strips, chips and local Barling Beauty sausages, which were equally delicious.
Feeling full I wrapped up my experience at The Navigator, satisfied that I was comfortable recommending a visit to any one who would listen!
The Navigator opened in May and will begin full time service as of next summer, and I may have to book a flight so I have an excuse to return.
