We have compiled a list of the best places in Basildon to grab a pint, according to TripAdvisor.
With the chilly winter weather officially setting in, we have narrowed down the pubs and bars where residents can get a welcome cold one.
These venues all have something to offer to suit everyone’s tastes, and we have decided on five for you to enjoy this weekend.
The Gun Pub
Bowers Gifford, near Pitsea
This venue, run by Lynne and Masaab Mohseni, offers its patrons pizza nights, homemade burgers, fish pie, steak and ale pie and much more to tuck into.
The 200-year-old pub prides itself on its family-friendly vibe and caters to all ages.
They have said residents, families, drinkers and business travellers are “always welcome” in their bar.
One TripAdvisor review commended the pub’s food and atmosphere, they said: “First time visiting for a roast and we were not disappointed.
“Great atmosphere in the restaurant and plenty of space around you. The food was amazing and great service from all the friendly staff. Will definitely be returning.”
The Beehive
Southernhay
The Beehive, which boasts a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor, has been a very popular staple of Basildon pub scene since its refurbishment in 2022.
The venue underwent a £500,000 revamp at the time and the efforts have clearly paid off with many patrons rating it positively online.
The pub serves classic pub favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with a range of pizzas.
One customer, who had their leaving do at the venue, said they were very helpful In supporting them and making the evening memorable.
They said: “The management and staff were fantastic in supporting my work leaving do. Just gave them a budget for food, a rough idea of numbers and agreed some space.
“They did a fantastic job which helped make my evening memorable for all the right reasons!”
The Quays
Festival Leisure Park, Basildon
This pub, located just off the A127, is a fantastic venue and has proven a favourite for many Basildon residents.
The pub prides itself on its “honest and straightforward” service and offers a range of classic pub food.
Speaking on the pub, one TripAdvisor user said: “Had a weekday lunch and some drinks with a friend and was lovely sitting on the decking.
“Love the new decor and really enjoyed the food, the chicken wings are always so yummy. Food came out quickly and the prices are really good.”
The Noak Bridge
Wash Road, Laindon
This community pub, operated by Greene King, is a staple of the town and offers plenty of good beer for patrons to enjoy.
The venue also boasts classic pub grub, or small plates dishes, for you and your family to enjoy.
One TripAdvisor user said: “I visited The Green Lantern Pub, and it was an exceptional experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with rustic decor that perfectly complemented the lively vibe.
“The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home.”
