A man has been arrested following an altercation in Shenfield as investigations continue. 

Essex Police were called to an incident in Hall Lane yesterday just before 1.30pm where a man and a woman had gotten into an argument. 

Officers attended and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault less than an hour later. 

According to Essex Police, enquiries are continuing and officers will be patrolling the area. 

Brentwood and Epping Forest district commander Chief Inspector Terry Fisher said: “We understand how concerning this incident would have been for people, especially as it was near a school. 

“I want to reassure you that we believe this is an isolated incident and that the people involved were known to each other. 

“Our officers will be carrying out extra patrols over the next few days, so if you have questions or concerns please do come and speak to us. 

“We are also appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything or has any footage to get in contact.” 

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police to help determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
