Police have issued a statement following an incident on the A12 near Marks Tey.
Officers attended an incident at around 10.30am this morning, which saw the A12 shut in both directions.
Essex Police has confirmed the incident was related to a concern for the welfare of a woman.
A spokesman said: “We were called to reports of concerns for welfare of a woman on the A12 at about 10.25am.
"She has been left in the care of the ambulance service who also attended the scene close to junction 25.
"The A12 is currently closed in both directions at this junction while we make the scene safe, and we expect this will cause significant disruption.
"Thank you for your patience while we carry out this work with our emergency service partners, and plan your journeys accordingly."
The road closure remains in place to grant emergency services access to the scene.
Diversions near the slip and exit roads have been put in place.
