A MAN has been charged in connection with a police chase and crash at a major A13 junction where a person was seriously injured.
A suspected stolen vehicle failed to stop for police shortly after 8.10pm on Tuesday evening, before crashing with another vehicle at Five Bells interchange in Vange.
This was described as a "head on crash" by motorists at the scene. One person in the other vehicle suffered serious injuries.
It was reported the driver of the vehicle being pursued then left the vehicle.
A 25 year-old man was subsequently arrested.
Kane Pells-Lowbridge, of Barlow Side, Basildon has now been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, receiving stolen goods, and fraudulently using a registration mark or registration document.
He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court today.
Due to the nature of the incident, Essex Police has confirmed a mandatory referral is being made to the Independent Office For Police Conduct.
