A SOUTH Essex town centre is buzzing with excitement as work gets underway at a new restaurant.
Fresco Rayleigh, a cafe located in The Chase, Rayleigh, has announced it is expanding into the heart of the town as it prepares to open a restaurant.
On its social media, the business revealed that they will be opening a new restaurant near Rayleigh High Street, in place of the old Oyster Wharf bar and grill in Eastwood Road.
Fresco bosses have also confirmed the popular cafe in The Chase will remain open.
Rochford councillor Danielle Belton was excited to hear about the announcement.
She said: “It is great news to see an already established Rayleigh business coming to the town centre.
“Fresco are a much loved independent cafe in the town, and I am delighted that they are growing their business further.
“I look forward to being able to access their delicious food and drink in two locations now.
“Rayleigh town centre really is a great place to enjoy a wide variety of food and drink.”
Fresco Rayleigh is currently an independent cafe/coffee shop which serves brunch, coffees, cakes, pastries, fresh bread, and more.
They also cater for events, with platters and designed cakes.
The business is yet to reveal any further details about the restaurant and its style, but has been overwhelmed by the response to the announcement.
In a statement on social media, Fresco Rayleigh stated: “We have some exciting news, something we have been working on for the last couple of months.
“We got the keys yesterday to our new restaurant in Rayleigh town centre.
“Thank you so much everyone, we are overwhelmed by the response.”
Since sharing the news, the announcement has received more than 700 likes, and 200 comments.
One resident wrote: “Wow, this is amazing news. I can’t wait for you to open.”
Another added: “This is fantastic news. So pleased your business is growing and succeeding. Great news, and can’t wait to visit.”
