A NUMBER of drink and drug drivers in south Essex have been sentenced at magistrates' courts in recent weeks.

A DRUG driver caught behind the wheel has been hit with a ban.

Tyler Wearon, of St Margarets Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope, was driving a Mercedes Vito on Stainton Road in Lewisham when he was found with 2.9 micrograms of THC - the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis - in his system. The limit is 2.

The 24-year-old admitted the offence at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on October 3 where he was banned from driving for a year.

He was also fined £300, ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £120 surcharge.


A DRINK driver who assaulted two police officers has been handed a driving ban. 

Philip Fletcher, of Roosevelt Avenue, Canvey, was driving a Mini Cooper in Somnes Avenue when he was found with 109 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on September 15. The limit is 35.

He also assaulted two police constables by beating them.

The 52-year-old admitted these offences, as well as driving without due care and attention and failure to co-operate with a preliminary test, at Southend Magistrates’ Court on September 30 where he was banned from driving for two years and a month.


A WOMAN caught drink driving has been banned from the roads.

Jacqueline Layton, of Woodham Road, Battlesbridge, was driving on Reeves Way in Chelmsford when she was found with 72 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on August 28. The limit is 35.

The 79-year-old admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on September 25 where she was banned from driving for a year-and-a-half.

She was also fined £200, ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and an £80 surcharge.


A DRUG driver caught above the limit for cocaine has been banned from the roads.

Joseph Havard, of Kenneth Road, Pitsea, was driving a Renault Master van in Middlesborough when he was found with 11 micrograms of the Class A drug in his blood. The limit is 10.

The 34-year-old admitted the offence at Teesside Magistrates’ Court last Monday and was banned from driving for a year and five months.

Havard was also fined £200.


A DRINK driver caught at more than double the limit has been banned from the roads for almost two years.

Philomena Hogan, of Christchurch Road, Southend, was driving a Mercedes in the same road when she was found with 86 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on August 13.

The 66-year-old admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on September 25 where she was banned from driving for a year and ten months.

She was also ordered to pay a £415 fine, £85 prosecution costs and a £166 surcharge.


A DRUG driver caught on the motorway has been banned from driving for more than three years.

James Green, of Andersons, Stanford-le-Hope, was driving a Vauxhall Astra on the M25 in Thurrock when he was found with 8.4 micrograms of THC in his system on February 27. The limit is 2.

The 36-year-old admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on September 25.

He was banned from driving for three years and four months and fined £461.

He must also pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £164 surcharge to fund victim services.


A DRINK driver caught one milligram above the alcohol limit has been hit with a driving ban.

Ben Morris, of Southchurch Road, Southend, was driving a Volkswagen Polo in Shoebury Common road when he was found with 81 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.

The 33-year-old admitted the offence at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on September 26 where he was banned from driving for a year.

Morris was also fined £120, ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £48 surcharge.


A DRUG driver caught above the limit for THC has been banned from the roads for a year.

Bradley Martin, of Waverley Road, Benfleet, was driving a Volkswagen in London Road in the town when he was found with 3.5 micrograms of the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis per litre of blood in his system on December 22 last year. The limit is 2.

The 32-year-old admitted the offence and was banned from driving for one year at Southend Magistrates’ Court on September 27.

He was also fined £387, ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £154 surcharge.


A DRINK driver caught behind the wheel while banned from the roads has been jailed.

Gracjan Glowacka, 37, was driving a BMW on the A127 in Southend when he was found with 206 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood on December 6 last year. The limit is 80.

He admitted both offences, as well as driving without due care and without insurance, at Westminster Magistrates' Court on September 26 where he was jailed for eight weeks.

Glowacka, of Durants Road, Enfield, was also given another driving ban of four years and three months.

 


A DRUG driver caught with cocaine in his system has been handed unpaid work.

Vilmantas Pilibiatis, of Sandon Road, Basildon, was driving a Kia in Cricketers Way in Nevendon when he was caught with 23 micrograms of the Class A drug per litre of blood on November 3 last year. The limit is 10.

The 27-year-old admitted the offence at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on September 25 where he was ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work within the next year.

He was also banned from driving for three years.
