A MUM and her two sons living on a deserted static home park have revealed they have “no idea where they can go” and are living in dread.

Tara Palmer, 50, claims she was hit by an eviction notice by the owners of Canvey’s Thorney Bay Village and ordered to leave by August 2.

Now, she is living in dread waiting for bailiffs to evict her from the home she has lived in for nine years with her sons Conrad, 18, and Mitchell, 20.

At its peak, Thorney Bay Village included 150 homes but now Tara claims all but four are empty.

The eviction notice has been issued by “Thorney Bay Park LTD” however the firm has not confirmed what the future of the site holds.

Tara said: “I’ve been here for nine years, and I was served a notice to be taken to court in April 2023, nothing happened and after six months it became invalid.

“I got another one and was told I would have to be out by August 2, I am on benefits, and I have applied for homes in Cornwall, Devon, North Wales, Coventry and Birmingham to desperately find somewhere.

“I have no one left and I have nowhere to go.”

Living with severe scoliosis, a curvature of the spine that causes chronic pain, Tara is severely limited in her mobility and is reliant on crutches and her wheelchair to move.

Tara is awaiting a court eviction letter after overstaying an order to leave by August 2 and has appealed to Castle Point Council for help.

She fears that the only escape is to be removed by bailiffs and be placed in emergency accommodation.

Tara added: “I am fearful of Conrad’s mental health spiralling due to our total lack of options, I have bidded on properties and not won.

“People need it more than me but social housing is in dire straits, and I have been told that I cannot be helped.”

On her time at the park, Tara added: “I really loved it, it was a great community of people, and there was no class system, no one was above anyone else and there was a real sense of community spirit.

“I love it and I will really miss it, this is the longest I have lived anywhere.”

Castle Point Council has been contacted for comment.
