FORENSICS have arrived at the scene of a serious incident where a woman was found seriously injured in Benfleet.

Dozens of police officers, including armed police, and ambulances flooded Kale Road yesterday as residents also saw an air ambulance land in Villa Park, Benfleet, at roughly 3pm.

An Essex Police spokesman at the time said said: "We are at the scene of a serious incident in Kale Road, Benfleet.

In the evening, it was later confirmed that a woman was found with serious injuries.

Police remain at the scene this afternoon with a cordon in place. Now, a forensic investigation unit van has arrived at the scene.

We are yet to receive any further information or statements from Essex Police on this cordon.

Residents in the area reported heard "screaming" at the time of the incident.

One nearby neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "One of the residents went out for a walk along the path and as she was entering the path she could hear screaming and swearing and could see people shifting the fence that was surrounding the field at the end of Kale Road.”

Another added: "There was a lady found in a bad way.

“Not ordinary ambulances, extra large, emergency type ambulances, they were there for ages.”
