AN MP has shared her condolences to the family and friends of a woman who tragically died after being found seriously injured in Benfleet.

Emergency services flooded Kale Road on Thursday after reports of a woman found with serious injuries. Sadly, the woman died at the location, Essex Police confirmed on Saturday.

Rebecca Harris, Conservative MP for Castle Point, said: "It was awful to hear about this. The hearts of the whole community go out to the lady's family and friends at this difficult time.

"If you have any information that could help the police with their enquiries please do come forward."

Her death is being treated as unexpected and police have launched an investigation to establish how she became injured.

As part of police enquiries, a man was arrested and has now been released. The force was unable to confirm further details on the arrest before the Echo went to print yesterday evening.

Andrew Sheldon, Conservative county councillor for South Benfleet, said the community was in "complete shock" yesterday evening following the news of the woman's death.

Police are treating this incident as “isolated” and continue to believe there is no threat to the wider community.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Essex Police on 101 and quote incident number 652 of October 17.
