SHOCKED residents living close to the scene of a woman’s death have sent their heartfelt condolences to her friends and families after the tragedy. 

Kale Road, Benfleet, was cordoned off by police from Thursday afternoon until Sunday after emergency services were called to a woman found with serious injuries. 

Over the weekend, Essex Police confirmed a woman died at the scene and the community has been left in shock by the news.

A man was arrested and has been released by police and an investigation is continuing. 
Yesterday, Rebecca Harris, Conservative MP for Castle Point, also offered her condolences to anyone impacted by the sad news. 

She said: “It was awful to hear about this. The hearts of the whole community go out to the lady’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“If you have any information that could help the police with their enquiries please do come forward."

Residents living in the area have been eager to offer their condolences to the friends and family of the woman, with a number of residents living in the area telling the Echo it was a tragic and sad incident that has shaken the close-knit community.

Hannah, another neighbour, said the death is “really sad and really concerning” and sent her best wishes to the woman’s family and friends. 

She said: “It’s just so sad. I literally walk back there all the time with my dog and toddler.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Detectives have launched an investigation and are appealing for information following the death of a woman in Benfleet.

“Sadly, a woman died at the location. Her death is being treated as unexpected and officers have launched an investigation to establish how she became injured.

“This is being treated as an isolated incident and we continue to believe there is no threat to the wider community.  As part of our enquiries, a man has been arrested in connection with our investigation and he has now been released.”
