A PUB landlord is making the most of viral fame after spending four hours baking more than 350 Yorkshire puddings for his son's genius Halloween costume.

James Paley, landlord at Saxon King in Southend's Priory Crescent, has made Yorkshire pudding costumes for his two sons for around ten years.

However, this year's costume, which has gone to James' 13-year-old son Aaron after his older brother has grew out of the "Yorkshire Pudding Boy" tradition, has gone viral online.Aaron Paley has taken on the role of Yorkshire Pudding Boy this Halloween

One clip of the costume, based on a superhero he created with his children, boasts close to three million views and has been recognised by the likes of supermarket giant Lidl and Aunt Bessie's.

The 45-year-old said: “It’s been so bizarre, but me and the boys are loving every minute of it.

“You can’t take yourself too seriously in life and people seem to be loving what we’re doing.”

The process of crafting the outfit takes James around five hours. Once constructed, they can be worn for a few weeks, complete with eyeholes and Yorkshire pudding ears.

“We make the puddings fresh each year, and I spray them with a lacquer to make sure they last,” James explained.

“Because of the success of the TikToks, I’ve bought some rubber paint and am hoping I can get some more use out of the costume,” said James.

The uniquely edible costume has been picked up by Lad Bible and Have I Got News For You, and James has even been contacted by Yorkshire Pudding royalty, Aunt Bessie’s, for a collaboration.

“Aaron is so excited to wear the costume trick or treating this year. Especially with all the attention it’s been getting,” James added.
