A BOY with special educational needs has been left terrified to leave his home after being lured to a car park before being beaten and robbed by two yobs, his furious mum claims.
Danielle Pardoe, 45, from Basildon, has said her son, Stanley, 15, has been left “too shaken” to walk the streets and has only left the house to be driven to and from school after he was repeatedly punched and had his belongings stolen outside Eastgate car park in Southernhay.
Danielle claims her son had been been approached by two boys, who he followed after they allegedly took his girlfriend’s phone charger, and was later punched repeatedly by the boys who also took his bag.
Stanley told his mother the perpetrators had shouted he “was getting mugged” after one allegedly launched the attack on him at around 5.15pm last Sunday.
Danielle said: “One of them punched him in the face. They just kept on hitting him and hitting him.
“They were dragging his bag from him, he managed to hide his phone in time.
“He ran for his life. He ran to the bus station screaming for help.”
She added her son, who is currently studying for his GCSEs, has only just started eating solid foods again and the incident has affected his studies.
“He doesn’t even want to walk the streets any more. He’s not been out of the house since, only to and from school with me collecting him,” Danielle said.
“Stanley is very traumatised, for about three days after that, he would not leave my side.
“You just feel like you’re not safe on the streets any more. He’s decided he will stand up in court if it ever comes to that, he doesn’t want it to happen to anyone else.”
Danielle said she wants “justice” for Stanley and would like the perpetrators to be prosecuted.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating a report of a robbery in Clay Hill Road, Basildon, after a teenage boy had his possessions taken by two suspects.”
They added: “Our enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information about this incident should contact us quoting incident number 861 of Sunday 20 October.”
