A SOCIAL media star is planning on bringing his and other creators’ audiences to Basildon with a new interactive sports zone including a mini-golf course and crazy pool.
Charlie Davis, 23, who runs a YouTube channel by the same name with just under one million subscribers, plans to open the Glow Sports Zone in Basildon Eastgate shopping centre on November 25.
The vlogger’s company, JetHouse, has taken over the Neon Nines crazy golf course, transforming it into a “glow-in-the-dark themed” nine-hole crazy golf course, crazy pool, interactive darts, a bar and more.
Charlie, a social media ‘influencer, said: “My aim is to explore immersive sports in Essex and create a global entertainment franchise, leveraging social media to grow 'Glow Sports Zone' into a nationwide brand. With the first being situated in Essex.
“There’s been a rise in the creator economy where YouTubers are creating their own companies, you have Logan Paul and KSI with Prime, for me personally, I have been looking at entertainment for quite a while
“We’re taking the whole Jet House audience and directing them to Glow Sports Zone.
“Directing all of that footfall to a shopping centre is a lot, those running it have been very supportive of us because of this.
“I know Basildon Council are looking to build out the night life and entertainment in the town a lot more.
“We’re looking to attract younger people, we’re looking to bring more of Gen Z to shopping centres. The number of those from this generation going to shopping centres is declining, we’re looking to bring younger people and their families back.”
The venue is undergoing “slight refurbishments” which includes finishing off the golf course and installing the interactive darts board.
He added £300,000 has been spent on the business and its development so far.
Charlie claimed JetHouse are the largest “creator house” company in the UK, and boast content creating houses in the UK, Spain and Dubai, with plans in the pipeline to set another up in Saudi Arabia.
Creator houses are residences where influencers collaborate, and often live with another, to produce content.
