A man has been rescued by emergency services after getting trapped between a van and a building in a south Essex High Street.

Emergency services were called to Rayleigh High Street, near Santander, just after 9pm yesterday evening.

This was following reports of a man, who was unresponsive, being trapped following a crash.

Photos of the scene show several ambulances, police cars, and fire engines in Rayleigh High Street.

Essex Fire have since confirmed a man was trapped after a van had collided with a person and a building.

According to the East of England Ambulance Service, the man was "unresponsive" on arrival, and rushed to Southend Hospital.

No further updates on the man's condition have been provided at this stage.

A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to High Street, Rayleigh at 9:26pm last night to reports of a man trapped after a road traffic collision.

“On arrival, crews reported a van had collided with a person and a building, trapping a man. Firefighters worked with ambulance service colleagues to move the van and give first aid to the man.”

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 8.53pm yesterday with reports of a person who was unresponsive in High Street, Rayleigh.

"We sent three ambulances and took a man to Southend University Hospital for further care."
