A taxi driver has been taken to hospital with a fractured skull and bleed on the brain after being assaulted in Colchester.
The serious assault took place this morning in Brinkley Grove Road.
The victim, a man in his 40s, is being treated for a fractured skull and bleed on the brain in hospital.
Police are looking for two young men in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We are investigating an assault which has left a taxi driver with a serious head injury in Colchester."
"It was reported the victim, a man in his 40s, had been found injured in Brinkley Grove Road at around 1.50am today (Saturday 2 November).
"He has been taken to hospital where he is being treated for a fractured skull and bleed on the brain.
"We are looking to identify two men, aged between 20 and 25, slim, and between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 9ins tall.
"If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.
"Please quote the crime reference number 42/166162/24."
