A RETIRED couple have revealed how two alleged drug dealers caused £2,000 worth of damage to their car after they confronted them outside their home.
Terry Gore, 67, was returning to his home at the Fallows, on Canvey, with his partner in Friday evening when they spotted two youths on a moped hanging around outside their home.
After Terry initially asked the youths if “they were lost” they became aggressive - threatening Terry and his partner before smashing his wing mirrors and damaging the side of their car.
The damage is set to cost the couple £2,000 to repair.
Terry said: “We returned from shopping at Lakeside and on turning into our cul-de-sac we noticed two youths standing by a parked moped.
“My partner decided to stop next to them and ask them if they were lost, they replied ‘no, are you lost?’ We reversed a little further back to get the registration on the rear plate and they became very angry and said that if we didn’t go, they would smash our wing mirrors off.
“Which they did and also kicked in the rear passenger door and further back towards the boot.
“We moved off quickly but only live two hundred feet from the incident.
“While we were pulling away, I was already phoning the police.”
The incident was reported to Essex Police by the couple and an investigation has been launched.
“As a retired person I found this very distressing,” Terry added.
“There’s a big hype recently about drugs bust on Canvey, I suggest that was the tip of the iceberg.
“You can watch the couriers pass you by with ease.
“This is third time we have challenged ‘disadvantaged youths’ at the entrance to the cul-de-sac.
“This is an absolute hive of drug dealing activity.”
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We were called shortly before 5.40pm on November 1 with reports a car had been damaged and a man threatened. It was reported two men had damaged the vehicle and threatened the person inside in The Fallows. If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage, then please get in contact with us.”
