MORE than £2,000 worth of stock was stolen from a Eastwood business after a brazen thief smashed through the shutters in front of CCTV cameras.
Bosses at Rejuiced Vape, off Progress Road, in Eastwood, have been left devastated after being targeted by the crook at roughly 6.30pm on Sunday.
CCTV footage showed the thief breaking through the shutters while on the phone before filling his pockets with vapes and e-liquids as the security alarm went off.
Owners Lauren Wedd and husband Andrew say more than £2,000 worth of stock was taken during the incident and believe he was on the phone to an accomplice who quickly collected him from outside the business.
The incident has been reported to Essex Police and an investigation is underway.
Lauren said: “We were broken into and had thousands of pounds worth of e-liquid stolen from our warehouse.
“It is a huge shock. We saw it happen on camera, so we phone the police immediately. Forensics also then came down last night.
“All the shutter was buckled, and you can then see a man walking around inside whilst on the phone to another guy. He then begins taking the stock.
“It will be really hard for us to come back from this. They have taken more than £2,000 worth of stuff.
“As an independent business, it has a huge knock-on effect.
“It makes you lose faith in people to be honest. It is hard running a business in this country as it is, let alone people stealing from you.
“We are devastated.”
Lauren and Andrew have ran their business Rejuiced for almost 10 years and have been located in Progress Road for more than five years.
This is the first time they have had a major break-in.
The incident has been reported to Essex Police, with the owners stating that forensics have already been down to the business.
