A LARGE car meet in Rochford was disrupted by Essex Police over the weekend as the force continues its crackdown on reckless driving.
Police officers attended a large, organised car meet at Purdeys Industrial Estate where two people were found to be in possession of cannabis.
In a post to Facebook, Essex Police said: “Two persons were also stop searched at the same location, with cannabis found they were dealt with positively and because of the policing presence, the meet did not last long.”
As part of the operation, a section 59 warning was also issued. Section 59 warnings are given to reckless drivers and can lead to vehicle confiscation if future incidents occur.
In the post to Facebook, Essex police also said: “Our officers went on to Cherry Orchard Way, where several traffic tickets were issued along with another Section 59 warning.
“The teams then attended the A1245, and as the result of a continued policing presence, the people involved in the meet left the district.”
Reckless driving has been a recurring issue in Cherry Orchard Way in recent weeks, regularly attracting racing and anti-social behaviour.
A crackdown last month saw the seizure of a car and two section 59 notices issued.
