After months of care and rehabilitation, a young barn owl chick has finally back in the skies, thanks to the care at South Essex Wildlife Hospital.
The little barn owl chick arrived in the care of South Essex Wildlife Hospital, in Orsett, back in August.
She arrived after falling from her nest, and being found in a cold, lethargic, and dehydrated state.
Although an initial examination found no physical injury, it took Tom Linsel a lot of work to get her stable again.
She has since continue to made steady progress of the last couple of months, and this week was returned to freedom.
A spokesman for South Essex Wildlife Hospital said: “What better way to start the week than with an animal returning to freedom.
“Many of you have followed the story of our little barn owl chick - who arrived with us after falling from her nest - and we are beyond thrilled to say that she is now back in the skies.
“It has been a huge privilege to be involved in raising her ready for a life back in the wild and, whilst they often say parting is such sweet sorrow, it is by far the best part of our work.
“Good luck, little one. It has been an honour.”
