DOZENS of events and services will take place on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Monday.

Basildon 

Services will be held in Basildon, at St Martin’s Square, and Billericay, in the High Street, from 10am to noon on Sunday.

Jubilee Park, in Pitsea and St Chad’s Church, Vange, will hold services from 10.50am and a service will be held at Laindon War Memorial at 3pm.

In Wickford, a parade will begin at 10pm and march from the High Street to Memorial Park.

Southend

In Southend, events will be held on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Monday.

At 10.30am on Remembrance Sunday, a parade will march from Prittlewell Square to the Cenotaph for the Service of Remembrance.

A two-minute silence will be held at 11am and marked by the firing of a Royal Artillery gun. The service will be led by the Bishop of Bradwell.

On Armistice Monday, the mayor will lead a city-wide silence at 11am from the Victoria Circus.

A town council-organised parade will march through Leigh on Sunday evening.

A Remembrance parade will also be taking place in Leigh on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm. The parade will begin at St Clements Church and end at Leigh Community Centre.

Rochford

The parish council have organised a Remembrance Sunday event and residents are invited to pay their respects at the Rochford War Memorial at 12.10pm.

Castle Point

A service will be held in South Benfleet at St Mary’s Parish Church at 9.45am Sunday and will be followed by an outside service at the war memorial and a two-minute silence.

On Canvey, a service will be held at the Paddocks Community Centre by the Royal British Legion at 10.40am.

Hadleigh residents will be able to attend a service at St James’ The Less Parish Church on Remembrance Sunday from 10.30am to 11.45am and an Armistice Monday service at the Salvation Army Temple at 10.30am Monday.

Thundersley will also see both Sunday and Monday events. Sunday’s service will take place at St Peter’s Church at 10.40 am, while Monday’s will occur in Thundersley Village War Memorial, also at 10.40am.
