A butcher shop which has served as a “community staple” for nearly three decades opened under new ownership this weekend following an extensive refurbishment.
The Chop Shop Butchery, located on St John’s Way in Corringham, reopened on Saturday after closing its doors in early September.
The business has been taken over by husband and wife duo, Sue and Rob Gough, from Stanford-le-Hope, after Alan Robinson decided to step away from it in August after 27 years, though he will remain on as a butcher.
The refurbishment, which cost tens of thousands, has seen a new sleek, modern interior and new flooring installed.
Sue Gough said: “The response from the local community has been so overwhelming, we are so grateful for every conversation, every new face and every loyal customer who stopped by.
“The support from opening The Chop Shop has been amazing on social media and in person, it’s so great to see that community spirit is still alive!
“The team are thoroughly enjoying chatting to everyone that stops by and sharing their recipes.”
She added they were delighted to “revive this High Street favourite” and were pleased to welcome back the old team.
