POLICE are on the scene of a "serious collision" in Basildon after a cyclist was hit by a car near Basildon station.
Officers are at the scene of the incident which happened at the junction of Southernhay and Station Way.
A "significant emergency service response" remains on the scene.
A road closure is also in place.
A statement from police reads: "We remain on the scene of a serious collision in Southernhay, Basildon, between a car and a cyclist.
"The collision took place at the junction of Southernhay and Station Way.
"A significant emergency service response remains on the scene and a road closure is in place.
"We would thank the public for their patience while we respond to this incident and ask that they avoid the area where possible."
