Two officers were assaulted in Grays, with one being punched in the face, as they tried to detain two men.
Mark Cooper, 20, of Gammonfields Way, Grays and Cailan Johnston, 20, of no fixed abode, will both appear at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates on December 2, in relation to the incident.
Mark Cooper was arrested on suspicion of on suspicion of two counts of assault on an emergency worker, criminal damage and possession of cannabis.
Cailan Johnston was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
One officer was punched several times, including being struck in the face and the other was elbowed in the face.
Shortly before 1pm on Wednesday November 13, officers were conducting enquiries at an address in Grays on an unrelated matter.
Whilst there, two men attended the location.
Upon seeing police, they ran off.
As officers attempted to detain the pair, the two officers were assaulted.
