A large police presence has been pictured in a south Essex housing estate following intelligence over potential firearms.
Photos show several police vehicles, a forensic investigation van, as well as officers in army uniforms.
At this stage, Essex Police have confirmed they are carrying out enquiries at an address in St Michael’s Avenue, in Pitsea.
This is alongside specialist partners from the Ministry of Defence.
A man in his 40s, from Basildon, remains in custody on suspicion of a range of offences.
Police say that a presence will remain at the scene throughout today.
The latest statement from Essex Police states: “Officers supported by specialist partners from the Ministry of Defence are carrying out enquiries at an address in Basildon following intelligence received over potential firearms at the location.
“A man, aged in his 40s, from Basildon, remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of a range of offences, including alleged firearms offences.
“Enquiries will be ongoing at the address throughout today.”
