EMERGENCY services have shut off a busy road at a major south Essex roundabout after reports of a "crash".
Traffic is slow moving as Canvey Road has been closed both ways at Waterside Roundabout, between Benfleet station and the tip, following unconfirmed reports of a crash involving two cars.
Emergency services have been seen dealing with what is believed to be the crash near Benfleet bridge.
A fire engine and multiple ambulances have been spotted, according to social media reports.
Dame Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point, shared: "I have been informed about an incident on Canvey Road by Benfleet Bridge and the flood barrier.
"There are multiple ambulances on the scene and traffic has been stopped both ways for the time being.
"My thoughts are with all those involved.
"Please share this with anyone you know who is planning to go on or off Canvey in the next hour so they can leave earlier and divert along Canvey Way and keep the area clear for the emergency services."
Access to Canvey Recycling Centre is believed to be restricted.
All emergency services have been contacted for comment.
