A BIKER was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash with a car on the A127.
Several ambulances and police, were called to the Kent Elms junction on the major road at roughly 2.20pm yesterday.
The crash partially blocked the Southend-bound lane of the major road for more than an hour as the biker received treatment.
Essex Police has confirmed that the biker was taken to Southend Hospital with serious injuries, however the injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening.
The incident was cleared and traffic returned to normal shortly after 4pm.
Eastwood Lib Dem leader Paul Collins said: “I hope everyone involved is safe and I wish them a speedy recovery, it is a sad thing and my sympathies go to the biker.
“It is one of those things, we have had some major crashes near there but it is unusual as the way the road is now laid out, the traffic is slower into Southend. I commend the services of the emergency services for their speed and for looking after everybody. “
No arrests have been made however anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage of the crash has been asked to call 101.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers were called to a collision between a motorbike and a car on the A127 just before Kent Elms Corner in Leigh on Sea at around 2.20pm.
“Traffic travelling towards Southend was disrupted by a partial road closure while emergency services worked at the scene.
“The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with injuries which were described as serious but not life-threatening.
“The road is now fully re-opened and we thank motorists for their patience.”
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called just before 2.20pm to a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike on the A127 near Leigh.
“An ambulance and ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene.
“The motorcyclist, an adult man, was transported to Southend Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
