A LEADING animal charity in Wickford held its Christmas fair to spread festive cheer and support the vital work it does rehoming dogs all year round.
The Dogs Trust centre off Nevendon Road was filled with Christmas stalls and activities for both owners and their dogs, giving the community a chance to enjoy seasonal activities while supporting more than 70 dogs in its care.
Small businesses sold festive gifts while the charity hosted a raffle, a tombola, and a “Pooch Emporium” offering all kinds of accessories for dogs at the fair, which ran from 11am until 3pm on Saturday.
Youngsters also enjoyed a “make your own dog stocking” station and a Santa’s grotto to meet Father Christmas.
Lisa Cooper, manager at Dogs Trust Basildon, said: “All the money donated at the Christmas fair goes directly to supporting the dogs in our care and finding them a happy place to call home.
“It’s a wonderful way to raise pounds for hounds while getting in the Christmas spirit.”
