EXCITING plans for two dazzling firework displays on Southend seafront as part of a New Year’s Eve party have been confirmed.

The city’s first ever New Year's Eve seafront fireworks displays on December 31 will offer residents and visitors a memorable way to welcome 2025 in style.

After initial plans were revealed by the Echo earlier this month, Southend Council has confirmed two free displays will be launched from a barge to the east of Southend Pier.

The first display, at 6pm, is a family-friendly event, perfect for little ones and early-night revellers.

The evening can be complemented with a visit to Southend’s seafront arcades and indulging in hot doughnuts.

The Southend Tourism Partnership, with support from Kingpins Southend, Atlantic Pacific, Royals Shopping Centre, Roslin Beach Hotel, and Southend Council, are responsible for the displays.

Nick Singer, director of Kingpins Southend, said: “We are thrilled to support Southend’s first-ever New Year’s Eve fireworks.

“Whether you’re here for the family-friendly show or counting down to midnight, it’s set to be a fantastic night for everyone.”

This is the first time the seafront has hosted fireworks on New Year’s Eve.

It also comes after the success of eight weeks of fireworks from September to November, which saw the skies of Southend seafront lit up in an array of beautiful colours.

Matt Dent, councillor responsible for culture, tourism, and business, added: “Southend is a city that loves to celebrate, and this exciting addition to our events calendar is another way we are making Southend a premier destination for residents and visitors alike.

“The fireworks displays promise to be a great experience, and I encourage everyone to come along and help us ring in the New Year in spectacular fashion.”
