A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after a crash between a car and van in south Essex this afternoon.
An air ambulance landed near the scene and multiple police cars and ambulances were sent to the scene.
The ambulance service has since confirmed a woman has been taken to Basildon Hospital.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "One ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic car and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Nevendon Road this afternoon following reports of a road traffic collision.
"One woman was transported to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further assessment and care."
Part of the road remains closed heading towards Basildon, according to traffic maps.
Essex Police have also been contacted for comment.
