THE family of a 20-year-old who tragically died on holiday have launched an urgent fundraiser to help the youngster’s mum travel to Turkey.
His family believe that the labourer stepped into the shaft after the door opened without a lift being present.
A Go Fund Me fundraiser has now been set up to help cover the unforeseen costs associated with Tyler’s death and help his mum, Racheal, travel to Turkey.
“We’re all quite unsure about what we do next and are feeling very overwhelmed, but we’ll obviously want to bring him back,” said Tyler’s uncle, Alex Price, who has organised the fundraiser.
He said: “The big thing right now is making sure that Tyler’s mum can get out to Turkey because right now she’s still in Basildon.”
The gofundme page describes Tyler as “a young man full of personality, kindness and compassion with his whole life ahead of him”.
The fundraiser has already seen around £600 of the £6,000 target donated.
The process of having the body of a deceased individual returned to the UK is commonly known as repatriation and can be a lengthy and expensive process.
Costs associated with repatriation can include flight costs, private medical teams, legal certificates and the expense of cremation or burial.
Alex said the family is still unsure of how far insurance will go in covering the family’s expenses.
The fundraising page reads: “He was just 20 years old. A young man full of personality, kindness and compassion with his whole life ahead of him. He was completely devoted to his family and girlfriend Molly. We are all absolutely devastated.
“We are asking for any donations towards the unforseen costs of dealing with the consequences of such a tragic incident. Tyler’s Mum Rachael is currently at home looking after her two youngest boys and will be desperate to get out to Turkey and bring Tyler home.
“Any financial support at this difficult time will be gratefully received on behalf of the family.
“Thank you in advance for your kindness and consideration.”
